The rise of the football ‘Young Master’
ALEXANDRA – Young Alex football coach is on the rise.
A young Alex coach is riding the crest of a coaching wave following his appointment to the technical staff of the perennial ABC Motsepe League side, Alex United.
Vincent Rammoni (22), better known in Alex football circles as the ‘Young Master’ because of his achievements at such a tender age since taking over the coaching reins of the Malandela Mighty Heroes Football Club seven years ago, has been roped in, not just to assist the Alex side to reach its dreams, but also to develop his own coaching career as well.
As a third coaching assistant for the Hope City Giants, as Alex United is fondly known, Rammoni, who is also known as ‘Pep Guardiola’, is responsible for the tactical analysis of the game and also attends the training sessions of the team.
For now, Rammoni does not sit on the technical staff bench during matches but gives his feedback to the whole technical team and players during the halftime break and after the match, as well offers his observations in training as well.
He delivers his observations and interpretations of the game and what he thinks could be done to plug the loopholes and shortcomings in the field of play. “I make my analysis of the game and, in most instances, it’s often spot on and the technical staff love them, and once implemented in the second half, they always bear fruit,” said the young coach who holds a Safa Level D Coaching Licence (or Safa Licence D).
Rammoni decided to go into coaching when he broke his leg in 2010 while still at the Mpumalanga Black Aces Academy. He then joined Alexandra’s most popular club, Alex Real Madrid, for his first coaching stint but soon realised he needed to take his coaching talent elsewhere.
“It dawned on me that Real Madrid was an established club used to winning cups, tournaments and everything. It’s just one of those wins they’re used to and it does not reflect on your abilities as a coach,” he said.
He then moved to a less fancied team, Malandela Mighty Heroes, which he has managed to turn around into a formidable football force in Alexandra, overtaking the very club that was the launch pad of his coaching career.
Today, Mighty Heroes boasts a cabinet full of trophies which attest to the prowess of Rammoni’s coaching skills and his understanding of the tactics of the modern game.
In terms of popularity stakes in the local game, Rammoni’s Mighty Heroes has since toppled Real Madrid at the top as the powerhouse of Alex football while he continues to rake in accolade after accolade for his exploits.
“It was precisely this kind of achievement that I wanted. I wanted people to easily notice my coaching abilities, as I have managed to turn what was otherwise an average team into a formidable force to reckoned with… and the rewards will follow on,” said the Alex-born Young Master of Limpopo parents who completed his matric at KwaBhekilanga Secondary School in 2013.
