Wanted robber bust in Limpopo
ALEXANDRA – A robbery suspect was allegedly part of a gang that also robbed a Noordwyk school five years ago.
A robbery suspect, who was rearrested in Limpopo in September last year after skipping bail in 2012, will appear in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on 14 February.
During the latest arrest, he was in the company of a gang police had been keeping tabs on that allegedly tried to commit a robbery in the province.
The 2012 robbery, in which the suspect was arrested with four others at a school in Noordwyk in Midrand, happened in October. The school’s gardener, Joseph Ncube, along with Mazwi Ndlovu, were sentenced in 2014 to 16 years and 18 years, respectively. The other two suspects, a man and woman who also worked at the school, are still at large.
The gang robbed visitors and the school’s workers after Ncube granted them access. When police responded to the robbery, he stalled them. When they returned later, the gang escaped over a wall and Ncube followed. All of them, except the woman, were arrested and granted bail. But only Ncube appeared in court.
The case continues.
