Man in court on charge of stealing from ex-lover

ALEXANDRA – Jilted arrested on a charge of stealing from ex-girlfriend.

A jilted lover was granted R3 000 bail after he appeared in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on charges relating to harassment, house breaking and theft from his ex-girlfriend’s place.

It is alleged the 29-year-old suspect broke into the victim’s 2nd Avenue house on 3 April this year and stole household items including pots, a pressing iron, blankets, shoes and R800 in cash.

The victim left her home locked at 7.45pm to put spend the night at her friend’s place.

Before she left, the suspect apparently called her twice but she didn’t answer the phone, fearing that if he knew she was home, he would come and abuse her. On the way she again received a call from the suspect.

Instead of answering, she gave the phone to a male friend who was accompanying her. He answered and was allegedly insulted by the suspect before ending the call. When she returned home the following day, she found that some of her items were missing.

Police went to the suspect’s home and arrested him after the victim laid a charge.

The case was postponed for further investigation.
