Man receives two-year sentence for failed house robbery in Wendywood
ALEXANDRA – Man found in Wendywood storeroom with stolen house keys and is sentenced to two years behind bars.
A man who was arrested for a failed house robbery, after stealing keys to a Wendywood residence, was sentenced to two years for theft by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court.
Moses Ngcobo (32) pleaded guilty to the offence.
He was arrested at the residence by the police officers on 22 April after the property owner saw a storeroom door open and close suspiciously.
When the owner tried to open the door, it was locked from inside. The police also tried and when they failed, someone shouted from inside asking them not to shoot.
The accused then opened the door and was arrested.
The owner told the court that the house keys disappeared the previous day and he changed all the locks except for the storeroom where the accused was found.
The stolen keys were found on the accused and retrieved. Nothing was reported stolen from the storeroom.
