Sexual predators in Alex

ALEXANDRA – Police investigate the rape of a woman and molestation of a girl.

Police are investigating the rape of a woman and the molestation of a girl in Alex.

Police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang said the woman from Tembisa was raped at midnight on 6 May next to the Setswetla Foot Bridge by two unknown men.

The victim, who had been with friends in Marlboro, left them to go to her relative in Tsutsumani. The suspects, who were both armed, pounced on her as she was waiting to board a taxi and forced her to the bridge at gunpoint. There, they pushed her to the ground, searched her and took R450 in cash, her cellphone and some of her clothing before both of them raped her.

Afterward, they forced her to lie face down before they disappeared. The victim was assisted by a member of the public to contact the relative and report the incident at the police station.

The girl was allegedly sexually molested the next day at a 5th Avenue home. The child who had been playing with friends outside her home came in crying and told her mother that a male had taken her into his place nearby and locked the door. He then allegedly undressed her and urinated on her back before letting her go.
