Varsity College hosts Easter Egg Hunt for Alex kids
ALEXANDRA – The Sandton campus of Varsity College treats children from Alexandra to an Easter Egg Hunt and other fun activities.
Twenty children from Alexandra under the auspices of Afrika Tikkun were treated to an Easter Egg Hunt fun event at the Sandton campus of Varsity College.
The children spent a full day enjoying the fun activities on the campus as part of the campus’ community outreach programme. They were hosted by volunteers from the Varsity College Cares initiative and some Unisa students who study Health Sciences and Social Services.
The Cares team also organised a sumptuous lunch for the children and the kids were also entertained and drew Easter bunnies in the presence of the college’s vice principal of student services, Vasanthee Govender.
At the end of the day, the children also took home more than 10 Easter eggs each while the winner of the hunt took home 23 of the 200 hidden Easter eggs. The college also donated more than 400 Easter eggs to Afrika Tikkun.
“We love having the little kids here from time to time,” said Govender, describing it as a great way for college students to learn to interact with communities that they wouldn’t easily engage with.
