‘Come to us too for flying careers’

JOBURG – The Flying Lions team is willing to visit Alex, if invited, to spread information on careers available in the aviation industry.

The Flying Lions aerobatics team has expressed an interest in coming to Alex schools during their career days to help spread the word about the available career opportunities within the flying industry.

The interest was expressed by the Flying Lions team leader, Scully Levin during an interview with Alex News at the unveiling of their sponsorship by the Sandton-based energy company, Puma Energy.

In the interview, Levin said the Lions team was always ready and available on request to come to formerly disadvantaged areas and group the schools in the area for a joint careers day to spread the information on the different careers available within the flying industry.

The foursome Flying Lions team consists of Arnie Meneghelli; Ellis Levin, son of team leader Scully Levin (next); and Sean Thackwray are keen to come to Alex for career days.

“Besides offering the various career opportunities and options, we also encourage children in the formerly disadvantaged areas to consider flying as a career and where it is opportune, we also display what we know best – our aerobatic flying formations to entertain the children,” Levin said.

The aerobatic flying formation fanatics also perform their flying stunts at air shows and other events where they are invited to come and display their flying skills.

One such event was the upcoming Parys event in the Free State on 3 June, where Premier Ace Magashule will gather more than 4 000 schoolchildren.

The event will afford the Lions team the opportunity to entertain the children with their aerobatic stunts and flying formations and also address them on the careers available in the world of aviation.

Levin said the team has just returned from Mbombela in Mpumalanga, where on 11 May they addressed more than 3 000 youngsters and also

entertained them with their aviation skills.
