Add Hope needs R43 million to feed vulnerable kids

ALEXANDRA – KFC launches its Add Hope campaigns to raise funds to feed vulnerable children.

KFC’s Add Hope campaign is looking to raise R43 million to feed 130 000 vulnerable children this year.

This was the message from KFC’s corporate social investment and sponsorship manager, Cathy Qama when she launched the annual Add Hope campaign at the KFC outlet in the newly opened Alex Mall.

She said in the month of May alone since the start of the campaign, Add Hope had set themselves the target of raising R3, 6 million and said targets vary from month to month and from outlet to outlet.

One of the 137 beneficiary organisations of the campaign is Afrika Tikkun, which runs a multipronged charity work in Alexandra’s Phuthaditjhaba Centre, one of which is a vibrant early childhood development facility catering for close to 500 children.

Afrika Tikkun has been a recipient partner for the past eight years since the inception of the Add Hope campaign in 2009.

On how the recipients are chosen for funding, Qama said organisations wishing to receive assistance are asked to register through their website, which has an application form that stipulates the criteria and requirements for such funding.

She said each year the number of beneficiary organisations increases, saying for this year they have added five more charity institutions from last year’s figure of 132.
