Alex police attend to 119 criminal offences in one week
ALEXANDRA – Alex police kept busy with 59 arrests in one week.
A total of 59 suspects were arrested by Alex police for various crimes in one week.
In the same period, 60 criminal offences were also reported at Alex Police Station including the rape of a 16-year-old girl allegedly by a relative.
Spokesperson for the police station, Captain Allie Kodisang said the arrests were as follows:
q 1 for murder
q 1 for attempted murder
q 1 for rape
q 2 for sexual assault
q 6 for assault
q 11 for causing grievous bodily harm
q 3 for shoplifting
q 3 for malicious damage to property
q 1 for theft of motor vehicle
q 23 for possession or use of drugs
q 2 for general theft
q 1 for fraud
q 2 for illegal possession of firearm
q 1 for possession of stolen property
q 1 for robbery aggravating.
Reported crimes include:
q 1 for murder
q 2 for attempted murder
q 5 for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm
q 1 for fraud
q 5 for general theft
q 3 for theft from motor vehicle
q 15 for common assault
q 3 for theft of motor vehicle
q 5 for residential burglary
q 2 for business robbery
q 4 for common robbery
q 6 for robbery with firearm
q 6 for malicious damage to property
q 2 for vehicle hijackings.
