Couples evade murder

A suspect was arrested for one of two alleged attempted murder cases of couples which occurred on 21 and 24 August.

Police spokesperson captain Allie Kodisang said the 21 August incident happened at 8am. The couple’s vehicle was shot at and the man was injured on the foot by a suspect who is wanted by the police.

The victim was preparing to go to work when a message appeared on the girlfriend’s phone from her ex-boy friend. When he handed over the phone to her, it rang and he answered only to be rebuked by the woman’s ex- boyfriend who threatened to deal with him. The man asked the girlfriend to take him to the suspect’s place and on arrival, they were told that he was bathing. As they drove back, the suspect called and asked them to return. While driving on 14 th Avenue, shots were allegedly fired at their vehicle forcing them to head to the police station on 15th Avenue. As they got to the station, more shots were fired at them from outside a Mini Cooper by a slender man with a big head who is suspected to have been following them after firing the first shots. The suspect who wasn’t said to be the ex-boyfriend then drove off. Police are investigating the incident.

The second incident, which occurred at 9.30pm in 13th Avenue was on a couple who were allegedly shot at by the woman’s ex-lover. The suspect who was arrested stopped next to them in a Toyota Avanza and fired shots causing the boyfriend to fall.

The woman ran off but was forced to stop after the suspect allegedly fired two shots in her direction. The suspect forced her into the vehicle and drove to his place where he detained her overnight while threatening to kill her and himself. He let her go the following morning and she reported to the police leading to his arrest. No injuries were reported.
