‘Raped’ by shop owner
ALEXANDRA – Suspect nabbed for raping woman in his shop.
A suspect was arrested for one of the two alleged rape incidents, which occurred during the day in Alex on 29 August and 3 September.
Police spokesperson captain Allie Kodisang said a suspect who was selling in a shop on Lion Crescent was arrested for the first incident which occurred at 2pm.
The victim alleged that after she got into the shop to buy food, the suspect closed the door and forced her against a wall. When she resisted; he overpowered her, pulled her skirt up and panties down and allegedly raped her while standing and, without a condom. Afterwards, he told her to return the following day as he opened the door to let her out. The victim told some people at a nearby park about the incident and they called the police leading to the suspect’s arrest.
The second incident occurred at 4.15pm on 17th Avenue.
The victim, who was visiting at her friend’s home, went to an outside toilet. While inside, two male suspects forced themselves in and locked the toilet’s door and at knifepoint, allegedly demanded that she give them what they want, presumably meaning sex, or they would kill her.
They undressed and raped her interchangeably without a condom. One of them also forced her to perform oral sex on him while the other raped her. After they left, she and the friend looked for them but failed to find them.
