#ICYMI: 17 injured in crash
GALLO MANOR – Bakkie flips carrying 17 workers after collision with Merc.
Seventeen people were injured in a collision between a Ford Ranger bakkie and Mercedes Benz on Kelvin Drive on Thursday morning.
According to Netcare 911 spokesperson, Nick Dollman, the incident occurred just after 9.30am on 25 January near Bowling Avenue in Gallo Manor.
“Reports from the scene indicate that a car and bakkie were involved in the collision and the bakkie, which was carrying workers in the back, overturned,” Dollman said.
Of the 17 injured people, two suffered moderate injuries and 15 escaped with minor injuries. “All the patients were in a stable condition and were transported to different hospitals for further assessment and care.”
Johannesburg Metro Police spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said the accident caused traffic to back up. “The accident scene has been cleared and traffic has resumed to normal,” he said.
