Dubious chopper hire
ALEXANDRA – 'Doctorr' nabbed for fraudulent chopper hire.
A man who allegedly went on a jaunt with others in two hired choppers was remanded in custody by Alexandra Magistrates’ Court, pending further investigation.
The suspect who falsely claimed to be a doctor flew from Rand Central Airport to the opening of Groblersdal Mall, Mpumalanga on 27 October last year. This after submitting fictitious bank transfer proof of R108 000.
When the money didn’t clear the accused asked for a time extension for it to clear. When it still didn’t happen several days later, he again asked for more time extension for payment to be made through a foreign account transfer. This also failed and the suspect was traced and arrested on 14 November and granted bail of R5 000 two days later.
