Robbers nabbed in stolen vehicle
ALEXANDRA – Vehicle, copper thieves and plot robbers await further hearing.
Four suspects caught driving in a vehicle stolen from a plot in Midrand were further remanded in custody by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court pending the conclusion of an investigation.
The incident occurred at midnight on 24 September last year. Three of the suspects allegedly woke up a gardener looking after the plot in the absence of its owner and ordered him to keep quiet.
They took the gate’s remote and keys from him, tied his hands with cable ties and locked him up in a caravan. The victim untied himself at 5am and called the owner who came. They searched the place and discovered that an Opel Corsa and trailer both worth R80 000 and two rolls of copper wire worth R31 000 were missing together with some of the gardener’s clothes.
Police were alerted and spotted the vehicle with the trailer and its contents at 6am heading towards Tembisa. The vehicle was pulled over and the four were arrested for the robbery.
