Woman pours hot oil over two neighbours for being ‘too noisy’

ALEXANDRA – Woman sentenced for hot oil attack.

A woman who threatened to flee to her home country after throwing hot oil over two women after an argument was found guilty on both counts by Alex Magistrates’ Court for causing grievous bodily harm.

Accused Chilesane Sibanda (27) admitted to the offence and was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment for each offence which magistrate Renier Boshoff ruled on 19 February to run concurrently.

The victims who are neighbours of Sibanda in Alex, were inside their room and talking at midnight on 10 February when she knocked at their door and threatened to harm them if they persisted making a noise. She then returned to her room. State prosecutor Lufuno Maphiri said the victims followed her afterwards wanting to resolve the matter but instead, the accused came out with a jar containing hot oil and poured it over both victims scalding them in the process.
