Man gets seven year jail sentence for killing lover
ALEXANDRA – Man gets seven years for homicide.
A man was sentenced by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court to 7 years’ imprisonment for culpable homicide involving the death of his girlfriend.
Erasmus Matuse was found guilty by Magistrate Renier Boshoff with Lufuno Maphiri prosecuting, of stabbing his girlfriend with a sharp object in the thigh during the night on 6 May in their shared room in Alex. She lost a lot of blood when he delayed to take her to Alex Clinic where she died shortly after arrival.
The two quarrelled after a drinking spree and the deceased, stabbed the accused in the knee with the sharp object. He dispossessed her of the object and in retaliation, slashed her on the thigh with it. He seemingly washed and changed clothes before taking her to the clinic where she died. He admitted to the crime which he claimed resulted from the quarrel.
