Three murders, three rapes in four days in Alex
ALEXANDRA – There were 71 suspects cuffed for various offences in just one week.
Alex Police Station attended to 15 reported priority crimes including murder and rape, 46 other crimes and arrested 71 suspects for various offences in the week ending 4 March.
Police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang said the priority crimes were:
3 for murder
3 for rape
2 for house robbery
1 for housebreaking and theft
1 for business robbery
2 for robbery with a firearm
3 for theft from motor vehicles.
Other crimes were:
1 for attempted murder
q 1 for common robbery
1 for robbery with other form of weapon
1 for fraud
13 for general theft
10 for malicious damage to property
7 for common assault
12 for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Arrests were;
1 for attempted murder
1 for rape
1 for sexual assault
8 for common assault
16 for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
4 for shoplifting
5 for general theft
3 for common robbery
5 for malicious damage to property
1 for fraud
1 for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition
23 for drug-related crimes
2 for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
