The leader of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG) in South Africa, Bishop Marcelo Pires has urged all leaders of political parties in South Africa to serve people who voted them into power with the best of their capabilities.
Pires was speaking to thousands of UCKG members at Emirates Airline Park on Good Friday at the Amandla Awethu prayer event held by the church to mark Easter celebrations.

“Every time I meet political leaders in Africa and South Africa they all ask me one question: What is the secret of the Universal Church to grow all over the world. And the answer I always give to them and I would like to share with all political leaders present here is that we (the pastors) serve God and His people with the best of our capabilities. I also urge you to do the same with those who elected you into power,” he said.
“Stop judging people based on the colour of their skin, race, gender and level of their education; serve them all equally and with dignity,” he added.

Among those in attendance was the newly appointed Minister of Public Enterprises Pravin Gordhan, MEC of Sports, Arts and Culture in Gauteng Faith Mazibuko and former Minister of State Security Bongani Bongo.
Pires also urged congregants to always give their best in everything they do for their families and communities and stop waiting for the government to bring solutions to their problems.
“Believe in yourself and be the best of you,” he said while radio personality and musician, Unathi Nkayi and the
Universal Church Gospel Choir kept the congregants dancing with music performances.
