Empowerment for small businesses

BRAMLEY – Mngoma Empowerment Group hosted a training session for small organisations and non-governmental organisations on 19 May.

Owners of small businesses and non-governmental organisations were invited to learn about how to get funding for their operations to flourish.

The Mngoma Empowerment Group hosted a funding training session at Profound Conference Centre in Bramley on 19 May. Founder of the group, Mzi Mngoma, said that the organisation’s focus is on training and skills development while helping businesses, non-governmental organisations, churches, and other organisations establish themselves.

“We do a lot of training for small businesses. We have training for them to excel, over and above the fact that they are just registered. They have to run their organisations professionally and profitably,” said Mngoma.

He added that many small businesses register but are unable to survive. “A whole lot of these people have not been exposed to business before, but our training assists them in understanding the business world.”

The training session was led by Mngoma with some of the company’s clients, which included non-governmental organisations’ and small business owners who have received help with registering their company.

He said that the primary goal of the session was to train the business owners in funding.

“The theme of today is training them on how to position themselves properly to receive funding and develop great business partnerships,” he said.

“At the end of the day, what’s the point of having a business, if their businesses don’t do well.”

The session also touched on compliance issues such as BEE certificates and tax clearance, and the difference in compliance between organisations.
