Infinity Kracht and Clicks donate tons of sanitary towels for Sandton View Combined

ALEXANDRA – Sandton View Combined School urged to focus on their education more than anything else.

A local youth non-profit organisation, Infinity Kracht Foundation in partnership with Clicks Killarney Mall, donated tons of sanitary towels to hundreds of girls in need at Sandton View Combined School.

According to Grade 8 teacher Hlamalani Mhlongo, some girls miss at least three to four days a month during their periods because they lack sanitary towels. “Some of these kids are orphans and live with their grandparents who can’t afford sanitary towels and they feel embarrassed to come to school.

“Sometimes we are forced as teachers to ask other students to help us donate for those who don’t have.”

Mhlongo has appealed to the department of education in the province to also consider and include pay-fee schools in the sanitary towels project because they too need them. “In no-fee schools, the government does provide sanitary towels for them and we are appealing to the department as some fee-paying schools do need this help because some of our leaners come from poor families.”

Clicks nurse Thando Gumede gave health and sex education to recipients of sanitary towels and urged them to focus on education and stay away from boys and sex. “Your health comes first, you must always have that in mind. Keep your eyes focused on your studies and your future even if your body tells the opposite.

“Don’t give yourselves to boys and sex. Your education must be your priority.”

Lefa Buthelezi, a member of Infinity Kracht Foundation, urged learners to speak to their teachers when faced with challenges whether at school or at home.
