Israeli Embassy revives the Shalom Club
JOBURG – Israeli Embassy revives the Shalom Club.
The Israeli Embassy in South Africa hosted more than 60 Mashav alumni from all sectors of society in Johannesburg to celebrate and revive the auspicious Shalom Club that has been inactive for more than a decade now.
Mashav is Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation.
Ambassador Lior Keinan opened up the ceremony followed by Professor Eilon Adar, the director of Ben Gurion University’s Zuckerberg Institute for Water Research. The club is a gathering of peace lovers who get together to spread the message.
Adar is also one of Israel’s leading researchers in water sources, its use and the technology around it.
Guests came from all over South Africa and eSwatini (formerly Swaziland) to celebrate this occasion and allowed for many networking opportunities among the alumni.
Israeli music maestro Nir Brand, who has been travelling across Johannesburg over the past week, also performed for the guests.
The event concluded with the previous president of the Shalom Club, Pastor Gaolatlhe Regina Molokomme, speaking about what Mashav was all about and her experience during her time in Israel.
She also included in her address the type of skills she developed through the Mashav course and how she has used those skills to make a difference in her field of expertise.
