Mayor Herman Mashaba and his Buya Mthetho team hand over invoices to non-paying businesses

JOBURG – City mayor, Herman Mashaba promises to recover all the monies stolen from the city through illegal connections.

City of Johannesburg Mayor, Herman Mashaba together with MMC for Finance Funzela Ngobeni and COO Floyd Brink,  delivered invoices to non-paying business owners in the city on 12 February.

Mashaba and his Operation Buya Mthetho team visited various places such as developments, schools and business premises that operate illegally and are using the City’s services.

They delivered an invoice amounting to R20.3 million at 43 Silverlane, Ormonde.  Mashaba said the invoice must be paid back within seven days. He added that the City would not rest until every cent was paid back.

The mayor warned that owners of properties must pay for electricity and refrain from connecting illegally as there would be penalties for that.
