Men’s forum sets agenda against gender-based violence and challenges of patriarchy
ALEXANDRA – Takwane Riime will embark in a school's workshop programme to teach young boys how to become a better man in society.
A newly formed men’s forum Takwane Riime (which means ‘stand up’) said it will work with all community-based organisations that are committed and serious about fighting the scourge of gender-based violence in the community.
The forum hosted its first men’s dialogue session at KwaMadala Hostel to discuss challenges faced by men in society.
According to Thembisa Tembe public relations officer of the forum, the organisation will dig into the issues that trouble men in society.

He said the organisation will work with all government and non-governmental organisation involved in working to uproot social ills such as gender-based violence. “Men are the most troubled in society yet despised by our government. We have heard of an organisation that are helping young girls but we hardly hear about organisations that are helping young boys to become better men in society,” Tembe said.
“We are going to work with the churches, traditional healer’s community, community-based organisation and all government institutions to help expose and uproot problems faced by men in society. Gender-based violence has its roots from men unresolved issues and our organisation was established to resolve such challenges.”
Tembe said Takwane Riime will embark in a school’s workshop programme to teach young boys how to become better men in society.
