Social dialogue exceeds expectations
ALEXANDRA - A social dialogue organised by TedxAlexandra exceeds expectations.
A social dialogue conference organised by TEDxAlexandra took place at Alexandra High School and was attended by delegates from all walks of life.
The conference started on a high note with top speakers including philanthropist Xolani Kunene, former Miss Teen South Africa and businesswoman Raelene Rorke, dean and co-founder of the African Leadership Academy, Chris Bradford and managing director of the Umuzi Photo Club, Andrew Levy.
Speakers focused on their vision of the future for Alexandra and some shared their first experiences of the township. One of the organisers, Daniel Adidwa said the event went so well that they would hold one annually.
“We are very happy with the number of people that attended, there were even people standing at the back,” he said. Adidwa added that another reason for the conference was to create a platform where entrepreneurs, the public and private sector could share ideas of their vision of creating a better South Africa.
Adidwa’s colleague, Xoliswa Moroka said they planned to expand the number of delegates next year and find a new venue. The conference ended with a networking session over a traditional South African braai.
