Load-shedding impacts water supply
JOHANNESBURG – The water supply to different places and homes is affected when load-shedding lasts for four hours and more, according to Joburg Water.
Joburg Water said that load-shedding can affect the city’s water supply as they use electricity to pump water from the reservoir into the towers.
Joburg Water advised residents to regularly check their load-shedding schedule for their areas on the City Power and Eskom websites as load-shedding does affect the water supply. Because of this, there might not be water in some areas and water could be running low in others.
Johannesburg Water urges residents to prepare for instances where there might not be water by ensuring that they have enough water stored for the duration of the load-shedding.
“Joburg Water, unfortunately, does not have enough water tankers to assist as a form of alternative supply because of the size of areas that get affected by load-shedding,” Joburg Water said in a statement.
