Cleaners furious about non-payment from contractor
ALEXANDRA - Madala Hostel cleaners furious with their contractor employer over pay.
The cleaners at the Madala Hostel on 3rd Avenue and Alfred Nzo are furious because their previous contractor has not paid them.
The cleaners worked under Mologagi Trading and Projects, owned by Stanford Tladi in June and July, and had since received half of their salaries. One of the cleaners, Busi Hlongwane, said that they were fed up because Tladi had been promising to pay them but has not delivered.
She said, “Every time we call him he says that he will pay us the following day and now he is ignoring our calls.”
There are 20 cleaners still waiting for payment of over R1000 each from Tladi. Tladi said that he intends to them. “I’m also waiting for payment from the City of Johannesburg,” he added. Tladi claimed that the City of Johannesburg had misplaced his invoice and that it would take some time before he had the funds to pay the cleaners.
