Man thwarted from concealing a murder
ALEXANDRA – Man admits to attempted dumping of a female murder victim.
A man who admitted to his involvement in the death of a female compatriot will seek bail on 30 May at the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court.
Police officers were alerted to the incident by app-based taxi service drivers who the man called in his attempt to conceal the murder. They, however, refused to transport the victim’s body. The incident occurred at night on 4 May at his home a housing complex in Midrand. The victim, who he claimed was his girlfriend but it was refuted by her family, went to his place for drinks.
He told the police that in the process, he also smoked dagga and thereafter, asked to have sex with her which she seemingly refused. He claimed this prompted an altercation between them, resulting in her throttling him and he, in turn, did the same resulting in her death.
He then called a driver who refused to carry the victim’s limp body in the boot of the vehicle. As the driver left, he met a fellow driver called to the scene and both went to report the incident at Midrand Police Station, prompting an investigation.
A guard at the complex informed the police that he had refused to let the accused pull out a bin from the area. They found the accused in his home where they searched and found the victim’s body in a bin. Inside was a pillowcase which matched his bedding.
He admitted to the incident and appeared in court on 7 and 13 May when the case was postponed.
