ALEXANDRA – Copper thief's fire switched off
A man who allegedly stole copper wire at a fire substation is appearing at the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court.
The station’s staff were alerted by the sudden loss of power that triggered an emergency generator.
The man was found still fiddling with the electricity box after he had already cut off some of the wire, and some of his tools were lying around. He fell as he fled and was arrested by police officers called to the scene.
