Prisoner on hijack charges

ALEXANDRA – Wanted hijacker surfaces in prison after four years.

An Alexandra resident who is in custody for another unspecified offence was further remanded in custody at Joburg Central Prison pending a charge of aggravated robbery.

Investigators traced Misheck Cindi to prison on 9 May and served him with a charge for the crime he committed four years earlier on 11 May 2015 with an accomplice who is at large.

He was identified through fingerprints for hijacking a Chevrolet from a motorist at gunpoint late afternoon at the robot controlled intersection of Vincent Tshabalala Road and 13 th Avenue.

He knocked on the driver’s side window and when asked by the victim what he wanted, he told him to get out of the vehicle. As he fled from the scene, the victim saw the accused and accomplice driving away in his vehicle with the accomplice into the township.

The incident was reported and the vehicle was traced and found abandoned.
