Taxi violence claims two lives in Alexandra

ALEXANDRA– According to Xolani Dladla the family spokesperson, Sbusiso was laid to rest on 10 August this year at his homestead in Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal.


The police have launched a manhunt after two people were shot and killed on 5 August on the corner of Ruth Street and 6th Avenue, Alexandra.

It is alleged that Sbusiso Dladla (37) and Bongani Gumbi (35) who were both working for Alexandra, Randburg, Midrand and Sandton Taxi Association (Armsta) were walking together when an unknown man who was hiding in a shelter alongside the road shot and killed them in hail of bullets.

Alexandra Police Station spokesperson Stephen Malatjie said the case had been transferred to the provincial taxi violence investigation unit.

“I can confirm that Bongani Gumbi (35) and Sbusiso Dladla (37) both of whom belong to Armsta were walking together when they were gunned down by unknown people. The case has been since opened and transferred to the provincial taxi violence unit for further investigation,” Malatjie said.

According to Xolani Dladla, the family spokesperson, Sbusiso was laid to rest on 10 August at his homestead in Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal.
