Youth delegates announced for summit

SANDTON - THE top 20 youth delegates that will be representing the City of Johannesburg at the One Young World Summit have been announced.

The top 20 youth delegates that will represent the City of Johannesburg at this year’s One Young World Summit were revealed at the Sandton Convention Centre.

The summit will bring 1 500 young people together from around the world. Delegates will discuss solutions to challenges in education, unemployment and human rights.

Mayor of Johannesburg Parks Tau said, “The focus on these topics bodes well for South Africa, as the country faces these issues on a daily basis. The summit will provide a platform for the delegates to express their ideas around these issues and give them the opportunity to develop solutions that will change the future of the country.”

One of the delegates, Dike Phatudi, who is a law student at Wits University, said he was humbled to be part of the summit. He said, “It came as a huge surprise, but I am looking forward to making connections and sharing my ideas.”

The summit runs from 2 until 5 October at the Sandton Convention Centre, with the opening ceremony at Soccer City.
