‘Taxi association member’ wanted for attempted murder

ALEXANDRA – Rogue 'taxi association member' fires at taxi driver.

 


A suspect who refused to pay a fee for a taxi ride is wanted by the Alex Police Station for attempted murder of a taxi driver.

Police spokesperson Captain Stephen Malatji said the suspect, who claimed to be a member of a local taxi association, boarded the taxi, a Toyota Avanza, at the intersection of 4th and Richard Baloyi avenues at 5pm on 26 October.

On the way the driver asked for the fee and he refused to pay claiming exemption as an association member. The driver stopped the vehicle and instructed him to get out. After an argument, the suspect got out of the vehicle, pulled out a gun and shot at the taxi damaging the rear window but missed the driver who sped off.
