Hostel residents receive donations
ALEXANDRA - MADALA HOSTEL residents get donations from various organisations.
Blankets, food and clothes were donated to the residents of Madala Hostel which was gutted by a fire.
The fire was started by a man who had fought with his girlfriend.
The residents received food and clothes from Give of the Givers and blankets from Thusong Youth Centre, with the assistance of the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Disaster management and Shoprite also donated items. Beauty More, Thusong’s centre manager said it was a terrible situation that the residents were in. “There are babies and this is no condition to raise a baby,” she said.
Ward 75 councillor, Chris Mabunda said, “We have put the residents at the Alexandra Stadium but some of them opted to sleep with friends and family.”
