Pensioners invited for Constitution Hill guided tours
JOBURG – Constitution Hill calls on all pensioners to come and tour the historic place.
Constitution Hill is calling upon all pensioners in Johannesburg to come experience the historical journey of South Africa’s remarkable transition from an apartheid pariah state to a democratic country today.
And the Constitution Hill would like to commemorate all those who lived to see the struggle for freedom by opening the museums to give complimentary guided tours of Constitution Hill during the months of October and November.
“The decision to host the elderly comes amid the celebration of the International Day of Older Persons on 1 October, as declared by the United Nations General Assembly,” said Constitution Hill CEO Petal Thring.
The UN theme of the 2013 commemoration is “The future we want: What older persons are saying”. What better way to uphold this theme by spending some time at Constitution Hill, a national heritage site, for a wonderful tour.
At Constitution Hill, the elderly are an important part of the SA history as they have great stories to tell that form part of the country’s heritage. Tours are open every day of the week, from Monday to Friday at 9am with the last tour being at 4pm. On Saturday and Sunday, tours start from 9am with the last at 2pm. Tours take place every hour on the hour. The complimentary special is valid until 30 November.
