BRAMLEY – Ndlovu appealed to parents to start helping their children with homework and familiarise themselves with their children's schoolwork.
While some of the schools were still battling with learner’s administration and registration, Liberty Community School Grade 1 learners were already on top of their books, shouting and spelling new words that they have learned.
The principal at Liberty Community School Dumisani Hadebe said learning and teaching for the 2020 academic year kicked off smoothly without problems at the school.
Hadebe said the school teachers and other staff members started preparing for the first day a week before to avoid delays.
“All is going well at the school. Teaching and learning is underway and those learners who have not arrived yet will get on the way. Our teachers and staff members returned for work last week to ensure that we are ready to start today,” Hadebe said
Grade 1 teacher at the school Nomusa Ndlovu said the headache that is usually caused by the new arrivals was less this year and urged parents to ensure that learners have all required stationery from the first day.
“This year we had fewer headaches from our new arrivals. Most of them showed maturity and no tears were shed when the mothers left the school. The only challenge we had, were those who had no stationery but we try our best to help them.”
Ndlovu appealed to parents to start helping their children with homework and familiarise themselves with their children’s schoolwork.
