Irked mom throws down baby in front of cop
ALEXANDRA – Mom's attempted murder charge of baby awaits probation report.
A woman who pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of her three-month-old baby awaits sentencing by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court.
Lindelwa Mabuza (21) of Tsutsumani burnt the child who was lying in bed with hot water which she had aimed at her boyfriend. The incident occurred in the evening on 30 November last year at their home. The man who seemingly had a tiff with the accused boiled the water in a pot on a stove for bathing before going to work. Before he could use the water, the accused quickly scooped some and hurled it towards the man who dodged resulting in the water burning the child on the stomach and hand.
An aunt, who was present, took the couple and child to the Alexandra Police Station to report the incident. When the officer attending the case asked the accused to hand the baby over to the man, she seemingly was irked and allegedly threw the child onto the floor. This resulted in her arrest and court appearance which awaits final judgment after the receipt of a probation officer’s report. The child received treatment at a local clinic.
