Men fight over girlfriend at shebeen
ALEXANDRA - Two friends are said to have fought fiercely in a shebeen over a girlfriend.
Two friends are alleged to have fought fiercely in a shebeen over a girlfriend, according to the police.
Alex police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said two men, who are friends, fought in a shebeen over a girlfriend and were eventually pulled apart by other patrons.
As one of them went to his home, he met his girlfriend who asked him about the blood oozing from wounds in his head but he did not answer, explained the Maphakela. The girlfriend proceeded with her trip to the Pan Africa Shopping Mall. On her return, she met other man who had fought with her boyfriend and told her the reason behind the fight.
“The man, known only as Alie, claimed the woman’s boyfriend slapped him in tavern after accusing him of dating his other girlfriend. A fight then erupted inside the shebeen and the men fought fiercely before being separated by other patrons,” Maphakela said.
Maphakela said when the woman got home, she confronted her boyfriend, known only as Bigboy, and told him what Alie said about the fight. She then confronted him about the other girlfriend.
Bigboy is alleged to have beaten up his girlfriend who then ran away and reported to the police. Maphakela said the police have since arrested Bigboy and he will soon appear in the Alexandra Magistrates Court on a charge of common assault.
