ALEXANDRA - A man took advantage of his neighbour's desperate call for assistance while moving house and stole from her.
A man took advantage of his neighbour’s call for assistance while moving house and stole from her.
The victim said she had found a new place to rent and had asked her neighbour to help her move.
As the landlord of the old house was not in, she decided to leave her neighbour to guard the house and other items while she moved some of them.
Upon her return, her neighbour was nowhere to be seen. She checked her items and found that a DVD player, R400 in cash, cellphone and CDs were missing. She then asked other neighbours if they had seen the man, and they confirmed he had left the house carrying a plastic bag.
The total value of the items was estimated at R1 550. Alex police said they were still investigating a case of theft and that no arrest had been made.
