Karen Burt, founder of Code Teen and Girlology talked womanhood to girls at the Alex Campus of the Central Johannesburg College.

Kotex and Code Teen held their Girlology workshop aimed at empowering young women aged between 17 and 25 years with what the workshop organisers described as an ‘Ultimate Guide to Surviving and Thriving as a Girl’.

The workshop tackled all aspects of the transition from girlhood to womanhood and sought to equip the girls with potential solutions for dealing with real-life challenges faced by the nation’s youth, such as substance abuse, gangsterism, teenage pregnancy, domestic violence and HIV/Aids.

Another key feature of the workshop was the ‘Femfacts’ section, during which the girls were educated about menstruation facts and personal hygiene, all with the aim to help young women embrace their journey of being a woman.
