Boyfriend stabs woman with broken bottle

An Eastbank man has been arrested by Alexandra police for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend with a broken bottle.

According to police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela the man who had apparently been smoking dagga, argued with his girlfriend over clothes. The suspect then went into the bedroom, grabbed a bottle and broke it before stabbing his girlfriend on the right arm.

As the woman lay bleeding on the floor, the suspect is said to have run away but was later arrested by police. He will appear in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
