Realogile boy off to Manchester
ALEXANDRA - A Realogile secondary school student will soon be off to Manchester to horn his soccer skills from one of the best soccer coaching programmes and in the process rub shoulders with other up and coming soccer stars from other countries.
A Realogile secondary school pupil will soon be off to Manchester United in England to hone his soccer skills at one of the best soccer coaching programmes.
Grade 10 pupil Nhlanhla Badumedi (15) was selected to attend the coaching clinic in September from more than 250 aspirant footballers at the Nike trials in Soweto. The school’s sport co-ordinator, Phumzile Mthiyane said they were grateful for Badumedi’s achievement especially because he was from a disadvantaged background.
“This shows that social status counts for nothing if one is given the opportunity to showcase his or her talent and does so with dedication, commitment and distinction,” she said. She added that the opportunity would put him in the spotlight with some local scouts and teams, but urged that this be done sensitively as he was still a school child who needed to complete his education.
Mthiyane added that the opportunity was good exposure for the school and would encourage other pupils to persevere in their sporting talents. She urged Badumedi to conduct himself in a disciplined manner as he also would be representing the country.

Expressing delight at the opportunity, Badumedi said the trials were rigorous and gave him the basics of soccer. “I am very excited as it will be the first time for me going outside the country and in a plane,” he said. “I hope my dreams of becoming a professional soccer player are coming true.”
The school is helping him secure travel documents and is asking for any assistance to make his trip an unforgettable adventure.
