ALEXANDRA - Police in Alexandra are hunting for five men who beat up a hawker for refusing to offer them credit on cigarettes.
Police in Alexandra are hunting for five men who beat up a hawker for refusing to offer them credit on cigarettes.
Alex police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said a man had approached the hawker as he unpacked his wares and demanded credit on cigarettes. The hawker refused and the man walked away.
He came back later with four other men, and they allegedly punched and kicked the hawker without asking any questions. They are also accused of damaging the hawker’s stock after they apparently scattered his wares and stomped on some of them.
Maphakela said they were still investigating a case of common assault and malicious damage to property.The hawker said would be able to identify the suspects.
