Woman beats up man for refusing to buy her beer

A woman allegedly beat up a man at a tavern for refusing to buy her a beer.

According to Alex police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela a woman approached the 31-year-old victim at Mpho’s Tavern and asked him to buy her a beer. The complainant told the woman, said to be popularly known as Neo, that he had no money.

The woman walked out and returned after about five minutes with an empty bottle and allegedly smashed the complainant’s head, who then fell to the ground.

Maphakela said the suspect has since been arrested and will appear in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
