R300 000 mobile kitchen awaits winner of TV series
ALEXANDRA - The weekend reality television show 'kitchen queen' which enthralled viewers has ended with the public awaiting the announcement of the winner of its price of a fully equipped mobile kitchen worthy R300 000.
Viewers of the weekend reality television show, Kitchen Queen are eagerly awaiting the announcement of its winner.
The lucky contestant will drive away with a fully-equipped mobile kitchen worth R300 000 on 20 July.
The show involved six women nominated by their communities for their culinary skills and entrepreneurship. They had to perform tasks which involved entertaining children and the elderly, running a market for emerging entrepreneurs, and setting up a vegetable garden with children.
The contestants were supported through the processes by mentors which included successful sports and business people. The contestants and viewers will nominate the winner.
This reporter caught up with two of the contestants, Nokhuthula Khumalo from Daveyton and Hazel Khumalo from Soweto who said the competition was rigorous, but an important learning curve in their personal lives. Both work with orphaned and vulnerable children, and the elderly.
Khumalo said while there would only be one winner, all of them were winners as they had gained valuable personal skills from the show. “We learnt various skills, patience and how to function under pressure, dealing with difficult characters and situations, how to be selfless, communications, planning, budgeting, implementing, negotiating, organising and motivational skills,” she said.
She advised aspiring contestants of Alexandra who may have been unsuccessful in the first nominations for the show, to be patient and continue their selfless work, as communities would reward their good deeds with nominations for the next one.
The real arrest and the name and shame of irresponsibility.
