Bank takes interest in creche

ALEXANDRA - Employees of global banking company Goldman Sachs took time off from their ivory tower offices in Sandton to visit a creche in Alexandra as part of their community service.

Employees of global banking company Goldman Sachs took time off from their swanky offices in Sandton to visit a creche in Alexandra as part of their community service.

A spokesperson for the bank said more than 30 of their Sandton staff observed the Community Service Day which is observed by all its branches worldwide between May and September each year.

He said every branch chooses a day within that period to perform community service initiatives designed to uplift and give back to those less fortunate community members.

The Sandton branch staff visited Thabisong Daycare Centre based at St Michael’s Anglican Church on the corner of 8th Avenue and Richard Baloyi Street. The staff reported that they had fun with the children playing on jumping castles, doing face painting, and holding a singing competition between the children and the staff which the children won hands down.

The staff also spruced up the kitchen at the centre with a coat of fresh paint, donated a refrigerator, and also cooked a sumptuous meal which they enjoyed with the children and staff of the creche.

The centre’s administrator Ntsoaki Tshoagong said no words could describe their gratitude to Goldman Sachs and its staff for a wonderful and well-spent day with the children.

“We look forward to a repeat of this in coming years and I believe we can grow this kind of relationship to much greater heights in future,” said Tshoagong.
