Hail hits joburg causing damage
ALEXANDRA - Alexandra’s shanty dwellings were spared damage and possible injuries to residents was averted from as heavy hail storm which hit part of the West rand Saturday night.
The hail was reported to be the size of ice cubes. Chairman of the Alexandra Community Policing Forum, Bulldog Rathokolo did not know the extent of the damage to the shacks.
The weather had been cool in the day, but turned cold in the evening as the storm built up which quickly resulted in a heavy downpour and hail.
Some residents reported dents to vehicles, broken tree branches and shredded new spring leaves.
The meteorological services has predicted the weather to clear from early in the week.
