Tuks falls victim to a scam
JOBURG - The University of Pretoria Football Club, better known to many as AmaTuks or simply Tuks has fallen victim of a scam.

The scam uses AmaTuks’ name in a fake trials offer. The club said that it has been brought to its attention that there was currently a fraudster using the name of the University of Pretoria Football Club to run a scam.
The fraudster running the scam is said to call himself Markhams Williams and uses the number 079 906 1796. He informs the recipients of his messages that Tuks will be hosting trials on 23 to 25 January next year and urges them to pay R600 into his account through Shoprite Supermarket by 5 January next year.
This fraudster seems to be targeting the Brits area in the North West Province, but there might be victims from other parts of the country. We request members of the media to assist us in informing the public that this man is in no way connected to the University of Pretoria Football Club.
“He is a fraudster who is taking advantage of young boys desperate for an opportunity to play football. They must please be careful not to fall prey to this scam. Dates for trials and any other club events are announced through the media, as well as on the club website, www.amatuks.co.za, where all our contact details are available should the public who wish to make inquiries. Members of the public are urged to contact the University of Pretoria Football Club on 012 420 6001 if they suspect they are being scammed.
