The trailblazing edutainment and popular multi-award winning TV series, Soul City comes back to Alex Clinic where it was first filmed in 1994 to mark 20 years of its existence.

In the series, Alex Clinic was renamed Masakhane Clinic and ever since residents of Alexandra still refer to the clinic as Masakhane.

The Soul City TV series, which is run and produced by The Soul City Institute, will mark its 20-year celebration with the presence of the Gauteng MEC of Health, Qedani Mahlangu, who will be a key speaker on 4 December.

The series showcased the wonderful work and service that is being rendered by Alex Clinic and some of its many challenges. The event will be for the community of Alexandra and will be themed Soul in the City, and is hoped to instil some soul into a soulless Alexandra that grapples daily with numerous socio-economic challenges.

Among the guests will be Soul City actors such as Patrick Shai, Lillian Dube and Connie Ferguson.

“We are proud to be celebrating 20 years of striving to make a measurable impact in the lives of South Africans through strengthening individuals, communities and society based on active citizenship and the principles of social justice,” said Lebohang Ramafoko, the CEO of the institute.
