Quick reaction by Alex police led to the arrest of three suspects in connection with an assault and stabbing of a 12th Avenue man.
According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, patrolling Alex police were flagged down by a driver of a BMW car who then pointed them to a scene of a stabbing in Joe Nhlanhla Street.
On arrival, they found a crowd of onlookers who pointed out the suspects. The suspects fled and jumped into a yard.
The police gave chase and apprehended all three suspects who have since appeared in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The victim was found lying bleeding on the ground and he was rushed to the Alex Clinic where he was stabilised and transferred to Edenvale General Hospital where his condition is said to have improved. Reasons for the assault and stabbing are still unknown.
