The Youth Advisory Centre is looking to better the lives of Alex youth through partnerships, educational and other opportunities. Congratulating those who passed matric, the centre’s manager Mush Raletjena said there were ways to assist those who didn’t do well in the exams, but they should first register with the centre.

Once registered, these youth can be put in touch with the Region E Youth Forum which run programmes that include skills development, entrepreneurial and leadership skills training. The forum also assists with access to bursaries and learnerships at FET colleges.

He added that companies also consulted the centre regarding potential employees.

“Currently we have 223 registered youths and we are linked to 28 companies, yet thousands of youth who should be in line for these opportunities have not registered,” he said.

Raletjena added that they had already placed 10 youths in employment, and helped 34 access PC Training Centre’s computer courses and ENS Law Firm’s workshops which focus on entrepreneurial and other skills training.

He said they would conduct more youth workshops this year.
